Jeremiah Cassar Scalia is an adjunct English Language & Culture lecturer and PhD candidate in Anthropology at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. His research and art works inquire into language and meaning from semiotic and phenomenological perspectives in an ongoing exploration of “the mutual warp of discourse and the body.” His academic research has included studies of language evolution and acquisition, the semiotic play between text and image, and ethnography of traditional bodily crafts such as capoeira and yoga. His more artistic pursuits include photo/typo-graphic art, visual poetry and experimental writing, as well as sound art experiments in percussion, sampling and ambient soundscapes.
